Welcome to Episode 79 of the “Reel Chat Podcast.” This week we continue our countdown of Empire Magazine’s Top 100 Greatest Movies of all time.

For the 1989 third installment in the adventures of Indiana Jones – “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas change the mood once more and with far better results than its predecessor. To rinse away the awkward aftertaste left behind by “Temple Of Doom” (frankly, it’s not bad, it’s just… different), the filmmakers revisit many of the ingredients which made the first movie special and add a splash of something new to give the franchise a nice kick. In fact, there are quite a few kicks in “The Last Crusade” which make it almost the equal to “Raiders” — one of them being the return of the Nazis as the central villains and Hitler’s pursuit of occult-related artifacts. Also, audiences get to travel the world with Dr. Jones as he tries to stop one the most evil forces of the planet. And the best kick of all, Sean Connery joins the adventure as Indy’s father and brings a great deal of comedy to the mix.

Joining your Indiana Jones loving host Adam Stolfo is Reel Chat regulars (and fellow Indy fans) Andrew McCaskill and Penny Jelly, as well as returning new semi-regular Jesse O’Brien. Join the team as they discuss their love of the franchise (well… the first 3), the work of legendary director Steven Spielberg, it’s fabulous cast, the film’s origins and screenplay, John Williams’ iconic score, it’s DVD and Blu-ray releases, it’s many humorous moments, as well as why this should of been the final film in the franchise.

So does “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” deserve it’s spot in the Top 100? And is position number 86 where it belongs?
