Honest, relatable, so authentic. Helps so much in understanding our kids and ways to connect and communicate. I feel like I learn something invaluable every time I listen and I appreciate the time and work you put in to making this available to all of us. Iâm so grateful for your willingness to share â¤ï¸
Iâve followed Heidiâs crafting journey from the very beginning, and feel like I know her thru her work. And hearing her share about life, parenting, and juggling work adds another layer to her, and I can relate. This isnât a religious show, and at the core, itâs really about family. And David is fantastic! He brings his therapist expertise to guide the listener through some real things we can do to improve. David is so low-key, maybe itâs the HI vibe, and me being from the west coast, I respond well to his easy going nature. Thank you both for this great show!! Keep it up!
I have a teenager and tween and the information in this podcast is priceless. We have been to therapy at different times and these conversations have helped me more than ever. Great ideas, real life struggles and easy to listen to and implement!
I love this podcast! Itâs helped me in ways I didnât even know I needed help it! Please keep up âlight the fight!â We need you
Thank you for always offering great advice on how to connect with teens and for doing so in a very entertaining manner. Not only do you help me to better understand my teens but you give me practical ways to implement change in my family relationships. You both are changing the world â¤ï¸
Iâve been listening since the beginning and have been taken aback by just how useful every podcast is and has been. My relationship with my children and family has been improving. And while yes, the problems donât go away, my mindset and the actions Iâm taking are different and I feel encouraged by the response Im seeing and feeling. My kids and family I believe would echo the same. No matter the person you wish to seek better connection with...this should be part of that process and will be one of your greatest tools.
Heidi is here right now with our Stake in Morgan Hill, CA. She is incredible to listen to; almost magnetic. She brings strength through pain, power through experience. Her story about Cory and the loss of a child is heartbreaking. Thank you for spending time with us here. I am officially a fan of your work. Thank you.
Iâm so glad my friend told me to listen! Iâve been struggling with parenting teenagers and this has been so helpful! Iâve been making a lot of mistakes and am learning so much and it is really helping my whole family. Listen! Get past the first few that are a little boring/awkward maybe but thereâs a lot of good info in there!
I take so much from this podcast! Not only about the parenting tips but this has helped so much with everyday relationships as well!
Thank you for making this podcast. My oldest child has depression and I have learned so much in the first 5 episodes. I canât wait to listen to the rest!
David and Heidi are badasses. They are at their vulnerable and authentic selves, using their experiences to not just dole out advice but also to enlighten us as we struggle through parenting.
This podcast is full of wisdom and real, raw life experiences. Thank you for putting your story out there for all of us Heidi. You are an inspiration. I have learned so much from you and your journey.
As a mom of teens in todayâs culture, I find David and Heidiâs podcast indispensable. The combination of insight, advice, & levity, makes this podcast a great parenting tool. Light the Fight helps me keep a level head!
Iâve enjoyed listening to a few of your podcasts. I think the advice is sound and very helpful. But, (dot, dot, dot) At times they take such a long time to get to the point. And there is so much bantering, it gets annoying. Also, too long on the intros. I like stories and examples but all the other inside jokes and stuff, bleh! I Hope that improves because the meat of the podcast is awesome.
Such great ideas, insights, and discussion. As a parent of teens - all so different from one another- Iâm so glad I found this podcast. Also, Iâm finding that itâs about so much more than that - itâs skills and ideas I can use in all my relationships. Thank you!!!!!
I lost my sister 3 years to suicide and my teen had an attempted suicide a year and three months ago September. When I heard about your podcast I was so heartbroken for you and yet I feel God brings people in our life to help to bring your focus back to Him. Your words have helped me so much as we walk this journey of recovery for my daughter and our family. I tell everyone I know about the words and stories and ways to help each other I have found in your podcast. Thank you for being real and raw and plainly out here for us. â¥ï¸. Please keep doing what you are doing. And know it helps those of us that need it most and donât even know it yet. Sending love and prayers to you.
Iâm a graduate student working on a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling. I feel like I should give some of my tuition money to David and Heidi. Iâve had so many insights from listening about parent, child, family interactions that have enriched what Iâm learning in class. Itâs helped me with my own teenagers as well. I refer friends to this podcast by telling them itâs like getting free therapy. Thank you David and Heidi for giving your time to this. I will be using âDavid-ismsâ with my clients some day.
Love the takeaways Iâve gotten from this podcast. Most of the time the episode topics arenât applicable to my current situation with family+kids, but Iâm learning to much!! Thank you for taking the time+being so open and honest!
I seriously canât get enough of David & Heidi! This podcast offers SO much good solid advice to everyone about so many things that we all encounter in everyday life. If you havenât listened to this podcast yet, whatâs stopping you?? Go ahead! Youâll be so glad you did!
This podcast is for every parent. Literally every one. At first I thought that it was geared towards parents of teenagers and young adults, but I have been proven wrong on so many occasions that this is not only for me, but for everyone! The real life situations, experiences and solutions that are thoroughly discussed and explained are invaluable in todayâs ever changing world. My daughter is only 8, but she is being introduced to new things every single day! Definitely take the time to delve into this podcast, you wonât be sorry!
My favorite favorite podcast! Really helping me in my life... itâs not just a lot of fluffy words, they really dig in and help you get to the bottom of your own life so you can best be there for your kids.
I love learning every time I listen! These two are so funny and so good at teaching us all to be better! Better parents and better people!! Thank you
I love this Podcast and have recommended it to so many friends in the neighborhood/ward. I tried the âI love you son, even if you choose to never do your responsibilities ever again, Iâll always love you because youâre my son.â While looking him in the eyes and then giving him a huge hug and smiling and then walked away, and it worked! Heâs only 9yrs old and he turned off his fave show, and went to do his piano practice, his Portuguese reading and English reading and then as a bonus even folded his clothes without me reminding him! Iâm as shocked as can be. You have golden stuff here!!!! Thanks for the homework and Thank you for being vulnerable and honest. Heidi, youâre my hero mom and I âhopeâ ;) and dream to be like you one day and David, Iâm pretty sure Iâd be able to take you in âyo momma jokes.â - your new BFF!
Every parent should listen to this podcast! So many great tools!
I love all the nuggets I learn from these two.
I wish I had the tools that David shares when my kids were teens! The new perspective that he provides would've saved many sleepless nights. We as parents take our "jobs" sometimes too seriously, but many times not "freaking out" could be the best approach. Dave and Heidi have are an amazing duo, their humor, and frankness are helpful, engaging and so real!
I listen all the time and feel like my mind is blown with the things I am learning, for myself as well as all of my relationships. Love this!
I am new to this podcast, but I already can see the value and feel love and true caring nature of David and Heidi. Cudos to them both for being willing to tackle hard subjects. So worth your time. I feel like Iâm getting counseling for free.
Thank you for being so open and willing to tackle topics that are so relevant to life in this day and age! You have both provided me with tools to help me be more successful as a parent to three teens!
Wow, just wow. Iâm so happy my friend showed me this podcast. Amazing!
It seems to me that Heidi raised children that are ungrateful⦠And have no sense of respect for anybody else and now that she is sort of in a mess with real life things she got herself a podcast and is trying to make up for all of the mistakes along the way.Iâm not saying all parents should be perfect or are perfect or have perfect moments⦠But this podcast leaves little to be desired to be a conversation between these two are downright uncomfortable at moments and they donât seem to be on the same page lots of the time. The stories that are told make me think⦠How could you not see that things were horribly wrong with lifeâ¦Glad theyâre all in therapy and learning and trying.
One of the best podcasts out there. Heidi and David have a great relationship with fun banter even with the heavy and serious topics. I always enjoy listening and learning about relationships. This is a must listen for anyone in any kind of relationship.
Parenting is complicated, even when you arenât dealing with teenagers and depression. Relationship principles are useful across the board. Iâm putting into practice what I hear and it is making a difference to me. Heidi is very open and vulnerable. David is very practical and always explains the reason behind his suggestions. Very relatable and helpful.
I have listened to several of these episodes. Heidi is delightful, full of honesty, self reflection and helpful information! As someone who shares many of her stories, including suicide (my nephew, 19, whom I helped raise) I feel I could benefit immensely from her openness and information. But I canât listen to these anymore. While she is amazing and helpful, the therapist on this is so pompous and self-important. As a trained therapist myself, I find his attitude so very distracting-Iâm find myself flustered trying to ignore him and focus on her. I wanted to send this privately, but I couldnât figure out the âDMâ option. Please, rethink how you want this information to come across. Maybe help guide the conversation without trying to come across as some guru-it is VERY unbecoming! Just by allowing her to share her story and what she has learned-without trying to make yourself out to be some sort of hero-would make you both come across as more amazing and genuine!
This is so good. I love the insight. I love the practical approach to how to apply some of these things in our lives. Love love love. Thank you for put this podcast out here. I just started this podcast today and Iâm on episode 5 and I have been scribbling notes like a mad woman. Not only to use to improve my relationship with my son but my husband as well.
I started listening to this podcast thinking it would help a friend and I was shocked at how much I needed this podcast. It should be at the top of every parents list. I have learned so much.
As a parent, as a suicide loss survivor, and as a mental health advocate, this is the podcast I most recommend when people (especially parents) ask me for suggested resources. There are so many helpful skills and tools discussed in this podcast that Iâve to be incredibly helpful. Thank you Heidi and David for helping us to light the fight and for your out of the box approaches. Lots of love from Amanda Panda ðð¼ð
I am a mom of 2, they are small children, but I love this podcast. This podcast is more than âjust about teensâ. Itâs about connection and making more meaningful connection. Itâs for anyone who comes in contact with anyone who has or will be a teenager. I look forward to this podcast every single week.
I can not thank you enough for sharing such valuable information. I am learning so much! To give your time to help others is truly selfless and heroic. Thatâs right, the both of you are my heroes! Thank you, Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
This is the most powerful parenting resource I have ever found. Seriously. Better than any parenting class Iâve been to or book Iâve read (which have been many) for me, even better than counseling (because finding a really good counselor is so hard!!!) Iâm so happy I stumbled upon it!
Such helpful information! As a parent of 3 teenagers I have loved these short yet great podcasts!
Iâve learned so much from listening to Light the Fight! Real, practical, common sense advice that will change your perspective in every relationship and especially with your kids. Iâm a first responder now rather than a âfreaking outâ mom...how did I not know this before?!
I have two teenagers who are as different as possible. My husband and I are constantly battling them over the most simple things. Weâve listen to the light the fight podcast and put some of the tips in place and I cannot believe the results. Less blowup/more follow up is like a magic trick. Avoiding the shame Game has helped us all feel better, and highs/lows has sparked great conversations. I find myself checking for new episodes daily, re-listening to earlier episodes to catch new points, and asking myself âHow would Heidi and David suggest I handle this?âHonestly, I wish I had this podcast 10 years ago, and I am sharing it with all my parent friends. It is truly so very helpful.
I am loving this podcast. So much wisdom & insight! I am learning so much & I am only on episode 4. I am actually going to re-listen to 2 & 3 to better understand this concept of shame. Thank you so much for these!
This podcast is amazing! Thank you for being so real. I have two teenagers and am struggling with communicating with them. We are trying to find a family therapist but they are hard to find in our area. I am so grateful for the real life experiences that Heidi bravely shares and Davidâs amazing advice. I am learning so much. Thank you!
Thank you for such valuable advice for raising teenagers. I wish so badly that I had this resource years ago when I started raising kids. David and Heidi are so relatable and the information they share can make a huge difference in how we interact with our families. I have recommended this podcast to many people, and I can't thank you both enough for sharing your time and talents.
Love this podcast! Heidi is so honest and is every mom. We all have so much we can do better. There are a few episodes I should have on a loop and hear every morning before I start my day! Thanks you for doing this!! â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸ We are all the same!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and knowledge. I am learning so much and feeling connected to everyone around me. ##
Iâve avoided idealistic parenting podcasts for a long time. Heidi and David get to the root of pain and grief that parents deal with and donât want to talk about. This podcast has given me great hope that parental failures arenât âall or nothingâ ...that healing, growth, and change are available even within the toughest relationships.
I have recommended this to so many people. I have learned so many nuggets that Iâm trying to apply. This parenting gig is hard. Thanks for your vulnerability, Heidi, as the two of you try to help the rest of us out!
