Informative and despite recent beyond excruciating news cycle I still want to listen. Host - great. Period. Wish they used less voice clips of certain head of state though. Itâs like nail on chalkboard
Get your news explained, in a real fun way. The team is amazing and the content gives you a real look at whatâs making headlines. Listen, you really should.
This podcast has become part of my daily routine. Sean makes the news fun and interesting. Thanks Vox!
Best podcast out there. Intriguing, well researched, great use of audio material. If you donât listen, start!
Great stories and personality!
Digs deep with a wit on all the stories that matter on a given day.
Overall this is a great, highly informative show. That being said I HATE the Quip ads. After repeatedly hearing the poorly acted Quip ads I have decided that I will NEVER buy a Quip and I canât stand listening to the show because of those ads. If the show changes their ads I might come back and listen again but as long as Quip is a sponsor I wonât be listening.
I love this podcast. Even when I think I have been saturated on any given topic, I learned something new. Mary is wonderful. The length is perfect. If I could listen to only three podcasts, or maybe even two, this would be one of them and I am a podcast addict.
This podcast is consistently one of the best I listen to. Each episode manages to pack serious thought and background into each topic while remaining engaging and entertaining. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to stay up with current events and learn more about the world around them
Updated. Try to learn something new every day. This program is one of many by Vox that helps me make sense of the broader world. MSM has become so narrowly focused that we miss a lot of valuable news. Well explained answers to questions many of us have. Perfect.
Love this podcast for its concise delivery of informative content. Compared listening to podcasts that offer related content and similar relevance to current events, I rate TE as #1. Vox does not disappoint. Keep up the professionalism.
This podcast could be so much better if producers made 1 simple change - Lose the Music! The musical overlays are noise that distracts from the discussion of the information. Also feels like a cheap trick of someone trying to entertain, engage, and manipulate me as an audience member. The content and depth of your podcast should suffice. Though there were many topics I wanted to listen to I canât hear the conversation past the noise of the music. Therefore Iâm out. Best of luck to you.
The power of a well informed citizen is impossible to describe. Today Explained gives the perfect, un-biased snippet in a light-hearted, often times even humorous way. Listening to Sean is part of my daily routine and Iâm so grateful for all the hard work Vox puts in every day for us.
The topics picked are very relevant to the day. I hear to other news podcasts such as âThe Dailyâ and I think âToday Explainedâ is among the best in this genre. Sean Rameswaram does a great job of keeping it very lively.
I love Vox as a whole. The site is my primary source of news these days, and Today Explained does a great job going in-depth on news topics. So why one star? The ads are absolutely horrible. Not necessarily because of the brands or the number of ads either. The delivery is cringeworthy, like reverse ASMR. Hearing the host hype up Brother printers felt incredibly unnatural, as were the fake phone call conversations in previous episodes about Uber. I never write podcast reviews, but I feel compelled to because I otherwise love Today Explained. Just get someone else to talk about a toothbrush or mattress.
Love, love, love this podcast. Keeps me up to date on current headlines. Very informative!
One of the benefits of a daily news show is to stay on top of and ahead of the headlines. Today Explained is always a great resource for getting more background on todayâs top stories. I subscribe to dozens of podcasts and have been waiting anxiously for some to explain in more detail about the Amazon HQ2 pulling out of NYC story. It took a little longer than I wouldâve liked but Iâm not shocked at all that it was Today Explained that finally came through with a thorough analysis. Great job and keep it up!
I like the information being reported and appreciate the effort. I cannot stand the (for lack of better term) âSo-Cal accentâ which sounds nasally and every last word of each sentence has that drawn, lazy tone where the voice sounds almost like itâs being swallowed...just canât bare to listen to that robotic, caffeinated pitch itâs gross. Other than that...good show
If I could only listen to one podcast... Today Explained would be it.
Love this podcast!!!! In-depth analysis of real-world events. Its so good itâs become part of my morning routine every day :)
I listen every morning :)
Love this podcast and listen to it religiously. Love the random topics and deep overview of non political items. The advertisements are awkward but 'cute'. Thanks for all the effort put behind this.
Thanks, Sean (and Crew). Retired from my DC commute, I listen early the following morning (before The Daily, The Big Idea and Up First are even available). A great time of day, with my morning coffee, to gain Vox-worthy insights with Seanâs energy, depth and context. [and the playfully-handled ads remind me of the Pod Save America crew]. Iâm in a different mental âplaceâ when I listen to the excellent, in-depth (still delightful) analysis from other Vox pods like The Weeds and The Ezra Klein Show. Todayâs dive into the VA black face issue was the first Iâve heard that provided a full historical context - of minstrel shows with black-face âend menâ in the North - but with the unique history of VA. Well done!Bravo, Sean and thanks.
Your team is âofficialâ and âon pointâ
This show is fast and to the point with out sacrificing depth or nuance. It's smart, balanced, and considerate. It's a great way to dive into one narrow specific issue that's cropping up in the news and actually learn about it in depth.
Sean asked me to do this and he just seems like a lovely human
I've been listening to Today Explained over the past 6 months and am super happy to be subscribed. The length is perfect and it's always informative. Often it covers stories that I don't hear on other daily news podcasts or does a deeper dive into an issue that I haven't heard covered as extensively. Sean Rameswaram does a great job as a host and honestly his ads are some of the best.
Feeling overwhelmed by the news and so much information coming at me, I was looking for something to summarize important topics for me - enter Today, Explained! Itâs perfectly informative, understandable, interesting, and brief! Definitely give it a listen!!!
This would be a great podcast without the ads in the middle. The Quip toothbrush has been hammered so hard, it's the last thing I want to hear about at this point. Is it really necessary to plug a product so often in such a short period of time?
You'd be hard-pressed to find a better-produced, more entertaining, or more relevant daily podcast than this. Sean is a delightful host, and the whole team makes the show my top priority every afternoon. As someone who follows the news and politics fairly closely, I often know about the topic they're going to talk about, but I always learn something new, and I'm definitely always entertained. They make current events fun and bring on interesting and knowledgeable guests.Make Today, Explained part of your day. You won't regret it.
I look forward to my daily commute because of this podcast. Sean has a clear and strong voice and he ask the right questions. The cutaways are either funny or provides clarity to the subject both of which are a ð
I cannot think of anything this podcast could do better. So informative, creative, entertaining, and overall just perfect.
I appreciate Vox for stepping into the daily news podcast game and publishing at the end of the day. Their coverage of the Sedan political uprising was refreshing, but the podcast doesnât delve into other news topics. Iâm not as much upset over the ads as many other reviewers say they are, but it does tend to divert the focus of the podcast. Less ads, other news topic mentions, and maybe even a longer podcast format could improve the quality.
You will only hear one side of the story. Do your brain a favor and find the news being discussed critically elsewhere.
This show is just awesome. I was wondering what is happening in Venezuela? Why are we recognizing a new leader? Are other countries doing this or are we being jerks? I opened up my podcast app and found that this podcast answered all these questions in a concise way. This happens All. The. Time. Love the show!
I really love Vox! I think the content they produce is helpful and creative. I feel like Sean really ask questions from my inexperienced perspective to all the experts , and that letâs me get the answers I wonder about for the topic. I also really enjoy lots of the vox reporters . Thus , today explained letâs me have another way to listen to them!
This podcast and the whole team have come a long way since the first episodes early last year. Sean and the gang have mastered the art of a brief, but unique ad read. I know some people hate the ads, but this is the one podcast where I donât skip through because I know it will be short, and I actually have no idea how Sean will sell the product this time. The storytelling has been strong for the past year, and I appreciate the insightful questions for some of the reporters that donât bait them into disclosing their personal opinions or trashing the President. Though, Iâm not one to run to the defense of the Orange in the WH. In short, this is a rad podcast for learning something new everyday and keeping up with the shenanigans happening all around the world. Thank you to the TE team for all that you do!
I love Today Explained. The in-depth coverage is always interesting, even on topics that donât normally draw me in. I also really enjoy the lighter moments, it helps make the crazy news weâre living everyday a little more palatable. Thank you!
The work done by Vox is truly aspirational, they are one of my most trusted sources for news media.
Keeps me informed without boring me to death.
Thanks for what you do!
This is total propaganda. This is just the same as Fox News just on the other side of the coin. No real information here.
Sean has good sense of humor and asks his interviewees questions I want to know the answers to. Iâm not a news junkie and this helps me keep up
I listen every evening and I absolutely enjoy it.
A podcast I listen to every night or the next morning in the shower. Just the right length for you to get a deeper look at whatâs happening in the news without killing 1+ hour of your time.
I feel like everyone I know is sick of me talking about how great this podcast is, thatâs how much I love it. Itâs the perfect length to listen to daily and always keeps me up to date with the big issue of the day! Itâs not all politics which is great, and I love that they touch on world news and not just American politics. The story telling is amazing, witty, and sometimes even quirky. Even the ads are fun to listen to because Sean is so down to earth and not gimmicky. Yaaaaasss today explained!!
Iâm so happy this podcast exists! It does an amazing job of giving you the essential details of current events. I canât recommend it enough for those who want to know a little more about whatâs going on, but donât want to spend time reading several articles.
Sometimes I have to step back and avoid the news - itâs pretty hideous out there. During these times, Iâm grateful that I have friendly Today Explained to hold my hand and keep me informed. Sean is a wonderfully ludicrous host, and probably the most charismatic interviewer that many of his guests have encountered, and it comes out in their conversations. When the showâs covered science topics that Iâm well-versed in, Iâve been very satisfied with the way theyâre portrayed. Based on that, and the research that goes into other Vox shows like The Weeds, I trust the research and accuracy of what I learn from the show. A trustworthy, informative daily giggle.
Awesome new podcast. Easy to way to dig deeper in a short time. One of my new regulars !!
