Dr. Berg talks about what excess carbs mean. Carbs turn into fat through the hormone insulin. The first thing to know is what does normal sugar mean. Normal sugar, 80-90 mg/dl is really only 1 tsp of sugar per all the blood in your body. This is very tiny amount. So excess carbs is anything over 1 tsp of sugar in the body. The average American consumes 27-31 tsp. per day.  The ADA recommends our diet should be 60% carbs.
