Stability: Husband
Continuing in our "Stability" series (based on James 1:8), we move on to the topic of a stable husband. Interestingly, there are not a lot of good illustrations of biblical marriage in the bible. But - of course - there's at least one! Listen in to this weeks discussion about the importance of a stable husband, where in the bible we see an example of a solid husband, and the threats we face today when it comes to being a stable husband! What Is Your Treasure?
What is your treasure? Earthly or heavenly? As we dive into a new year, it's important to understand that we have earthly treasures - we place value on different relationships or things in our lives. But in order to leave a legacy that lasts, the treasure that we should be chasing is the one that God offers us when we believe in His Son, the life that He lived, the death that He died, and the resurrection that He accomplished. Listen in as Dave and Dante discuss the earthly treasures in their lives, and how to turn that focus from the earthly view to the eternal view. Happy New Year from Legacy Dads! Merry Christmas 2023!
The Birth of Jesus Christ In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!" When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. ===================================================================== Legacy Dads is proud to be partnered with the Christian Parenting Network of Podcasts. Examine Yourself
"Examine yourselves," and "Search me, O God..." are things we read in the bible (2 Cor 13:5 and Psalm 139:23). But when it comes down to it, do we as men actually want admit to a holy and righteous God the results? Or are there things we are secretly holding onto - worldly things - that are maybe done in secret, or at least away from the "Sunday best" that everyone sees week-in and week-out. In this week's episode, Dave and Dante discuss the eternal significance of truly examining ourselves, and earnestly seeking God to search our hearts. Before we roll into a new year and make the traditional resolutions, we hope this is an encouragement to set the foundation in place - in the right place with God. Listen in, and pray for God to move into your heart without reservation, and without fear! Find RC Sproul's book "Five Things Every Christian Needs to Grow" here! "Manhood Tribes" with Don Ross
Don Ross is the founder of "Manhood Tribes," a ministry focused on creating groups of men who follow Jesus at every stage of life. Don started Manhood Tribes—to help men in challenging times because he believes men aren't meant to go through life disconnected from other men. He also believes that men are built to live in groups, or Tribes, but we've lost many of our reasons for doing so. Manhood Tribes is creating ways for men to reconnect with each other, starting with a father/son rite of passage experience called First Tribe. There will be more opportunities in the future, so be sure to listen in and connect with Don at Manhood Tribes today! Gratitude in the Chaos
In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the importance of being able to show gratitude, even in the midst of extreme chaos around us. Recently Dave lost a friend to suicide, and you'll hear him talk through the raw emotion of the loss. While the episode was supposed to be about gratitude (it is, after all, the week of Thanksgiving), the conversation pivoted towards persevering through the storm, with the goal of being grateful for even the smallest things at the end of it all. If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide, please PLEASE visit 988 Lifeline Website or call/text 988 (National Suicide Prevention Hotline) immediately.
