Iâm a newbie to Polygon, and I was uncertain about the podcast because I only recognized Simoneâs name, but I just finished the most recent episode (suede yoshi) and I will definitely be listening to more! Everyone was very funny, very enjoyable!
I just discovered Polygon on YouTube last night - imagine my joy when I discovered they had a Podcast with a bunch of ladies talking games and general nerdery! As someone whose hoping to get more into games generally, Iâm delighted!Small thing that both baffled and amused me: Iâm ALL for taking the piss out of Kingdom Hearts, which I adore to the max but is also demonstrably completely absurd. Hereâs the thing though...the reviewer of KH3 said she spent *8 hours* in the Frozen world! It took me 3 hours *max* to get through Frozen, and not only am I a truly TERRIBLE gamer who, besides a bit of KH only plays Pokémon, but KH3 is the first game Iâve played on a TV connected console in *15 years*! Do yâall professional gamer types need any tips??? Were you exaggerating??? Iâm assuming you were exaggerating??? Honestly, I was thrown enough to put this in a review, but it really has 0 bearing either way on the quality of the show, which as I said is truly excellent.Lil thing to end! Iâve only listened to a couple of episodes, but already a point that was made that I really liked and stuck with me - as I recall, essentially what was said was that more diverse superhero films should exist in the world, and that there shouldnât be such incredible pressure for each one to justify the existence of EVERY say, black or female lead superhero flick by being absolutely perfect. Love that!!!
Iâve been lookin for a good game ping podcast for awhile and I finally found it. It has a great mixture or game, movie, and tv show reviews. Not only that but itâs hilarious, itâs rare that I actually lol...but this show has made me do it more than I care to admit.
i love this show. simone's laugh sounds like a goose and this brings me much joy. also, videogames
The Polygon Show has quickly become my favorite podcast. Itâs so refreshing to be able to hear (and partake) in a discussion around video games and not have it dominated by men. I love the show and love that Iâve found this community where I donât feel so alone for my love of video games. Thank you for everything you do.
i usually feel very alienated by a lot of Gaming Content Creators(TM) because they're usually men who think being loud = being funny but listening to the Polygon Show feels like having a really funny convo with my best friends, i love these ladies and wait with baited breath each week for Allegra to talk about Warrior Cats again
Do you like video games? Do you like to hear people talking about video games? If you said âyesâ to either one of those questions, you are a good person who should listen to this good show. Nay, great show with great hosts. Give it a listen!
I started listening to this podcast a few years ago and due to the evolving video game industry this podcast not only talks about video games, it also talks about pop culture references within the games and the effect all of the next generation of games have or will have on society. From the legacy of Metal Gear to the current state of Nintendo as a company all of the hosts have their own opinions on what a game should represent and how all of the newer games are played. This is my main destination for game reviews and suggestions. With the advent and opening of the Nintendo World section within the Universal Studio Parks I also hope for this show to be very informative. Thank you Simone de Rochefort, Allegra Frank, Chelsea Stark, and Ashley Oh for the gaming news of the day.
Love these women talking about games and gaming. The best gaming podcast around. ððð
A belated holiday carol for the Polygon Show."Honk!"The herald Simone sings."Polygon is podcasting! That Ashley, Oh so wild, Allegra Frank, a literal child!Chelsea Stark played Persona Five, But topics digressed into the skies:Our four angelic hosts did sing, "Chickens are nuggets! It's all one thing!"
I admit that I got into the Polygon Show because of the McElroys, but I'm glad that I kept listening! When so much of the (most promoted) video game/media coverage is done by dudes, it's refreshing to hear from other kinds of people! I enjoy the various bits, and getting to hear about parts of the entertainment world that I don't personally follow. It's especially heartwarming whenever one of the hosts gets to talk about something that means a lot to them (i.e. Yakuza, She-Ra, etc.). Keep up the good work!
I look forward to this podcast every week. Always interesting and new topics of discussion. The hosts also have a real positive and supportive attitude and are a pleasure to listen to. Keep it up!
Always happy when it pops up in my podcast app! The only thing that could improve it would be the return of a video version.
The Polygon Show is the podcast highlight of my weekend. It is funny, honest, and heartfelt. Every episode really gets what itâs like to be a nerd excited about cool things and it totally picks me up. Also every episode feels re-listenable, something I never do even with more acclaimed shows. I love these good good ladies and their work!
I get more laughs out of this show than any of the "comedy" podcasts
I previously reviewed with a 5 star rating, but had to re-lower it. Want to star but saying I love this show's content and all four hosts- espically the latest format of talking about segments/genre's VS the weekly video game podcast news show. The biggest issue for me (thus the rating) is the audio. Audio levels with the show are a huge issue -when a quiet whisper happens by someone I turn up the volume to try and hear it- and two minutes later loud yelling or laughs occur which blow out my eardrums (from what I loweredand I immeditly have to turn it off). It happens so frequently that I can't even ignore it, like I normally would: it makes me switch podcasts. I get it's also part of the hosts charm/personalities: but when your posting for an audio-only medium. Still listen once in a while, but not as often.
This show is great if you like multiple two minute long ads per episode. Itâs not great if you donât
I listen every friday afternoon at work as a treat to get ready for the weekend. Itâs tailored precisely to my interests, ie games, butts, venting ab awkward childhood memories. Keep it up yâall
I was seeking a gaming/culture podcast that breaks the over abundance of white dudes, and the Polygon Show delivers.
I look forward to hearing these amazing ladies (and their occasional awesome guests) talk about video games, food, and Coke every week. Highly recommend.
I love Simone, Ashley, Allegra and Chelsea. Sometimes they yell and hurt my ears, but I canât stop.
They are funny, but can get pretty preachy about social topics.
This is one of my new favorites. This podcast is so needed in this world and prevalent gaming culture. They have super smart insight to games. I really value their opinions and experience of what makes good gameplay (and bad gameplay). Their goofy banter makes me happy - such a genuine and fun group. <3 ily polygon show.
I recently moved across the country (the US), and I have yet to form any friendships out here on the west coast. I catch myself missing my friends every day.The Polygon Show is a heartwarming and hilarious podcast that reminds me of all the best things about having a group of friends. They could (and do) talk about anything and I would be endlessly entertained by their friendship.Keep up the good work Simone, Ashley, Chelsea, and Allegra!
5 star rating for a 5 star explanation of why Piccolo doesn't have nipples.
I listen to a lot of podcasts. The info shared on this podcast is excellent, however the hosts are way to overbearing at times. Many times during conversations they yell and laugh uncontrollably and frankly my ears canât stand that. I subscribed and tried to listen for several months and most of the time I couldnât finish an episode due to the volume. No offense to Polygon, but Iâll stick to reading the news online.
I'm so happy to have an all-femme video game podcast to listen to, thank you so much Polygon!
I love all the Polygon gals, guys, and people. Simone, Allegra, Ashley, and Chelsea are all charming, funny, smart hosts who always have interesting commentary and quips on the latest in gaming. It's a great show; don't miss out.
Very good content from four very good women
I know itâs selfish of me but I wish yâall would record this more than once a week. I have to go back and listen to old episodes now. SIGH***PS MERCH SHOP MERCH SHOP MERCH SHOP (all I want is a polygon sticker. just the symbol. pls)
It's very good
I love Polygon. I should love the polygon show but i am always super luewarm about it. overall its a fun time though:Things I like:All female castthese superstar gals are very genuinegame talk, if any, is usually very well thought throughThings I Dislike:the podcast says clean lyrcs but those songbirds are not using clean lyricsguys...yall need to have better EQ Voices are too quiet laughs are too loud etc.man do they get off topic...
I absolutely adore each of the hosts of The Polygon Show! They are all wonderfully weird, nerdy, and hilarious. Also Simoneâs laugh alone deserves 5 stars.
Wonderful, funny, beautiful girls talking about video games and such, and I love them and this podcast v much!!
gaming talk/Diet Coke discourse from cool, funny, thoughtful ladies. i look forward to this show in my feed every week even though Simoneâs Overwatch ships are bad
âI think Kirby is full of beans.âThank you
I look forward to this every week!!
itâs been a delight listening to allegra, ashley, chelsea, and simone (I hope I spelled all those right! it would probably be easy to check but oh well too late) talk about video games and food but mostly food. great show, charming hosts, makes me look forwards to my Friday commute.
An absolutely great, wonderful, delightful, fantastic podcast. It makes me happy.
Such a fun and friendly show, the hosts have great easy chemistry with each other and they all seem like such nice people. It's a delight listening to each of them gush about the things they love, even if they're the only one who does, even if I don't know what game they're talking about. It's that feeling you get when your friends are excited about something and you're just happy seeing how happy they are just to talk about it and share their enthusiasm with you. Thank you Polygon for always bringing this good good content!Update: I think Iâm in love with Simone. I live for her honks
has possibly surpassed all mcelroy properties as my favorite podcast. i look forward to this show every week and dread the days I canât make the livestream! the four wonderful hosts are so charming, intelligent, and funny that it doesnât even matter that i donât even know that much about video games!
I don't play as many video games as I used to but I still like to keep myself updated on the latest in the industry. I ALSO like to relax and destress.I like this podcast because it kills two birds with one stone. It's a combination of silly, relaxing, and lighthearted but also manages to keep me informed on the latest games and game-related news.I also like the chemistry between the hosts. Their conversations give off this "chilling-with-your-best-friends" type of vibe. It reminds me of the times I would hang with my friends and we would talk about life, games but also we'd be really goofy and silly (I'm sorry I don't know how to describe this any better). the hosts are all charming in their own distinctive ways.Anyway I like this podcast and I hope Simone, Allegra, Ashlee and Chelsea keep doing what they do! :)
The Polygon Show is silly and light, full of rapid-fire (or not-so-rapid-fire) questions, updates on what folks are playing, and some news bits. Most importantly in my eyes, though, is the women-centric nature of the show. Is there anything like this in gaming? I think it's filling a big need in the community and engaging a whole group of people that weren't united around a show before. That makes me so happy. Now if Simone could just remember that "lightning round" means Quick Questions, we'll be all set! Also, sorry about Charles Entertainment Cheese. That one's on me.
a good show by good girls talking about good (and bad) gamesalso weâre ðð½ this close to getting 666 ratings
It feels like a lot of the older brands of video game podcasts and media is focused a lot on the trend from the mid-2000s to be overly cynical about the hobby. Even if the hosts on these shows are funny, it's still a jaded show that can get downright boring. That's where Chelsea, Allegra, Simone and Ashley of The Polygon Show come in. They all sincerely love video games and the communities that come out of it, and it's a type of optimism and good vibes that's been missing from a lot of video games podcasts. Hearing a diverse group of female friends talk about their lives and get into absurd discussions about video games is a blast every week, and this show was needed in the current media landscape.
I love video games, and I love these wonderful Polygon nerds. Thank you for making me laugh so much.
