Have you ever wondered the difference between a co-op and an intern?

Co-ops

  1. Good way to get your foot into the door of a good company you are targeting
  2. Can be required, not always and if you’re part of a co-op program you are stopping classes to work full time
  3. Paid program
  4. Usually lasts about 3-12 months
  5. You get school credit
  6. Heavily related to your school program / major / area of study
  7. Could be part of a rotational program

Interns / Internships

  1. For current students
  2. Internships are typically shorter than the co-ops, usually lasting over the summer or fall/spring
  3. Compensation - can be paid, unpaid or an exchange for housing or something similar
  4. Not typically required
  5. Typically not getting school credit
