Sarah spent an entire month at altitude in Colorado training, eating well, and getting good sleep.  She then returned to sea level with hopes of capitalizing on her training month, only to find her fitness severely compromised. What the heck?  She learned what the issue was, worked to fix it, wrote about it here, and shared her experience in this podcast.
I’ve struggled with fitness this summer, but still had an exciting race planned, coinciding with our tenth wedding anniversary on the Central Coast.  Instead, I spent time in the Emergency Room, had surgery, and wound up with a 24″ stent hanging out the end of my nether regions.  I’d ignored some warning signs and learned some valuable lessons about hydration, salt, and what the heck kidney stones are.  Seems pretty obvious, but listen up!

This is a different format podcast than normal. Rather than interviewing a guest, Sarah and I interviewed each other.  We talked about goals, URP, UTMB, and what we’ve got coming up with running. It does seem a bit self-indulgent, but it was also a way to catch up with each other’s lives while pulling the URP curtain back a bit.
