DarkKnightWallpaper1024Comfortably the most successful Batman film to date, 2008’s “The Dark Knight” roughly tripled the box office success of its predecessor, “Batman Begins”. What was it that drew audiences in such large numbers to Nolan’s second attempt at the caped crusader? Was it the Heat-esque sprawling crime thriller narrative, Heath Ledger’s terrifyingly unhinged performance as the Joker or indeed the actor’s untimely death that had viewers who hadn’t bothered to see the first film lining up to see this one?

Adam Stolfo, Brose Avard, Andrew McCaskill, Stuart Wilson and James Hazelden – a cast of characters almost as big as the film’s – have reported for duty in this episode of Reel Chat. Listen to them dissect what they like, don’t like and are undecided about when it comes to this incredibly influential piece of filmmaking. Was the character of Rachel Dawes treated fairly by the script, was the film well-served by the surprise origin story of its other villain, and what’s with the subplot about Batman getting attacked by dogs?

If you’re excited, curious or terrified at the prospect of “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice”, now is a great time to revisit one heck of an impressive movie sequel. Like the Joker, the Reel Chat team try to not keep things too serious, as we work our way through Nolan’s typically complex “The Dark Knight”, a film that contains not three but four acts!
