Eileen Mitchell wrote about pets and people for the San Francisco Chronicle for many years with A Dog's Life column and then the Pet Tales column, which ended in February 2015. She has her own blog, "I didn't see the asterisk." In today's interview, she shares her own story, and some wonderful animal stories, including a reading of one of her columns about her first greyhound, Elvis.

Earl Hamner was best known as the creator of television dramas, "The Waltons," and later, "Falcon Crest." In an earlier part of his career he wrote eight episodes for the Twilight Zone. He died on March 24, 2016.
