Carl Edwards won his third NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway and seventh of the season. Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup leader Jimmie Johnson overcame a penalty to finish second and take a 183-point lead to Texas Motor Speedway, where he's the defending race winner.
