They brought with them the family business, hoping to use it as their vehicle to chase the American Dream - the secret family recipes of Zankou Chicken, dishes that go back generations. And when they opened their first location in Hollywood in 1983, it was an immediate success. The business grew…but before long, the family would become divided over who would control the bustling and growing business when word came the one in charge of the whole thing was stricken with cancer. And he would unilaterally make a decision that would divide the family forever.
