Daniel Sickles was really influential in American History, and there's a pretty good chance you've never even heard of him. We hadn't even heard of him until just recently and we thought he was pretty interesting.

He shot Francis Scott Key's son. He should have been court-martialed. He disobeyed direct military orders. He kept his severed leg preserved. He served in public office. And he also convinced the USA to preserve Gettysburg.

What an interesting guy...
