Raju Bhatt spoke about the development of police accountability in the UK in the past five decades, in a talk entitled "Policing the Police: Power, Scrutiny & Accountability?" on Wednesday 20 November 2013 at the Faculty of Law, as a guest on the regular CULS speaker programme,
Founding partner of the leading human rights solicitors firm Bhatt Murphy, and winner of the 'Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year 2013' for outstanding achievement, Raju Bhatt is a leading human rights solicitor with special expertise in police law and deaths in custody cases. Mr Bhatt has been called upon to act in significant claims involving the Serious Organised Crime Agency, the Ministry of Defence and the Security Services. Raju Bhatt has sat on the Hillsborough Independent Panel and served on the Joint Committee on Human Rights scrutinising the draft Bill of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.
